Of all the state parks I have visited in Minnesota, William O'Brien is one of my favorites. It's about a 45 to 50 minutes drive from the Twin Cities and is only 4 miles north of Marine on St. Croix. The scenic walk along the St Croix in spectacular during any season but it is at it's most beautiful in October when the leaves are changing color.

Autmun wouldn't be Autumn to be without a walk along The St. Croix River in William O'Brien State Park.

William O'Brien State Park was donated in 1945 by Alice O'Brien in memory of her father William O'Brien who logged that very land along the St. Criox River. It is 1,353 acres and plenty to do

William O'Brien State Park has many, many places for a picnic - some remote picnic spots along the St. Croix River. Camp sights for campers and tents. There is swimming in Lake Alice and boating on The St. Croix. Plenty of fishing. Bring a camera - bring your bicycle.

Willliam O'Brien State Park has 12 miles of hiking trails but the hiking trail pictured is a great/scenic 1.5 miles walk along the St. Croix River. It's very breath taking regardless of the season.

I found this faucet pumping water into the St. Croix. I love it with the leaves scatteres along the ground.
