The photograph of was taken in September of 2003. The Port of Duluth is the farthest unland port in the world. |
| | Fog It was really foggy the day I took this photograph. You can barely see the top of the lift bridge. |

jhp1940 Sat Aug 15, 2009 16:39 UTC I was approximately six years old when my uncle took me to see the lift bridge. His neighbor worked the bridge and we were allowed up into the control house. Then the bridge lifted with us on board to let a ship go through. | Rabbityama Mon Sep 18, 2006 22:04 UTC I have heard of that story before. Too bad it was not an isolated situation! (luckily, things have changed!) | vivimero Fri Jul 21, 2006 12:28 UTC is always soooo foggy? | Tugboatguy Sat Oct 1, 2005 04:30 UTC Nice pics & tips. Spent a week there with my cousins in the '40s. Port was busier then with iron ore. Duluth had a great beer made with Lake Superior water and downtown tasting room, but can't recall the brand. Doug |
