First City on the Mississippi Bemidji, considered the first city on the Mississippi where the river winds downward 2,552 miles to the gulf of Mexico. It is a haven for sportsman, bird watchers, and artists. If you visit Bemidji Minnesota, I encourage you to bring your fishing gear, a good pair of hiking boots and a camera. And take that equipment and visit Chippewa National Forest, Itasca State Park, and/or Bemidji State Park. They of course have plenty of lakes to fish from, and many trails to hike on, and a lot of wildlife to photograph. I'd say that this part of Minnesota is about the prettiest in the state.
If you need a boat, there are several places to rent them; Clear Vue Resort, Dare's Den, and Ruttger's Birtchmont Lodger to name just a few. Bemidji State University rents out sail boats if sailing is your thing. You can also rent canoes if you'd like to travel The Turtle River a Chippewa National Forest or the Mississippi Headwaters at Itasca State Park by canoe
But always bring your camera, you might see some bald eagles, or loons, or even a moose cow. |
