"Raton" Raton by Fewf

Raton Travel Guide: 3 reviews and 7 photos

When a bunch of Spanish explorers came back to their camp and found everything destroyed by a group of large rats, they named the place "Rat," which, in Spanish, would be "Raton."

Do not be shocked by the politically incorrect Hotel Swastika. It was around long before Hitler started the chain of events that made the swastika taboo.

Raton stands next to Raton Pass, which is a tip on my Colorado page. If you came from the north, it is also probably the first "southwestern"-looking city you are seeing.
