One of the many suprises during our tour of Italy was Verona. This was a stop off between Florence and Venice... we spent an afternoon in Verona, town that inspired Shakespeare's "Romeo & Juliet". Most of the day was spent just walking around going in and out of shops... although if I ever return I would much rather spend more time out of the shops (seems like that all we did)
The tour guide walked us through an inconspicious walk way and inside was a courtyard and up to the right was Juliet's balcony. This balcony was what inspired Romeo & Juliet's famous balcony scene. Below the balcony there is brass statue of Juliet that if you rub her right breast it is said to bring you great fortune :) Of course I tried! I'll put up a pic of that soon... you can actually see where its worn off from so many people touching it. |
