THIS PAGE HAS BEEN APPROVED BY THE TRUTH POLICE On our trek to Alaska from Turkey, we went through Southern California. While neither of us have ever been a fan of California, we both had lived out west before, and had found some nice places that are worthy of visit…even in the largest overrated state in the USA. This place you’re about to learn about is one that Katey showed me.
Located in the Colorado Desert of the southwest, Anza-Borrego Desert State Park is a spectacular find. It has enough credibility that I’m surprised it doesn’t have the status of a National Park. However, it IS the largest state park in the United States. Within its borders you’ll find an array of beauty. And since it is away from most population centers, it seems to be unspoiled. There are plenty of places you’ll be completely surrounded by nature without any humans bothering you.
If you decide to make ABDSP part of your California journey, you’ll find it to be a nice breath of fresh air from the choking metropolis cities in the area. Be aware, though, that items like maps and water will be needed. The area can be harsh, and getting lost has resulted in deaths in the past. |

XiXou Sat Sep 16, 2006 21:53 UTC so much for equality. all the men get is a pile of rocks. very funny observations!!!!!!!! | zrim Wed Sep 13, 2006 03:54 UTC Hey, I'm glad you guys made it to Anza-Borrego, it's definitely worth the effort to get there. Isn't that Palm oasis wild. Great photos and commentary. | Bwana_Brown Thu Sep 7, 2006 20:56 UTC Whoa, that looks like one tough hike in the boiling heat - while wearing jeans! However, the nice Oasis destination does look like it is almost worth the effort. Come to think of it, that last Super 8 I stayed at outside Kansas City, Mo. was crap too! | TheWanderingCamel Tue Aug 29, 2006 08:18 UTC This looks just my sort of place - but I don't think I would have expected any more from the motel than you found. The oasis looks great - perfect for a camel. leyle |
