If you have taken a look at my newly developing USA page, you can see I’ve stayed the night in a number of towns across this fine land. Kingman, Arizona is one of those towns. Of course, Kingman had a large roll has a stop-over during the dust bowl days as those from the prairie states were traversing the famed Route 66. Today, Kingman…well, serves the same roll. Except now it’s for those coming from Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
The motel itself is truly nothing spectacular. It has a bed, a TV on stilts, and a loud air-conditioner that smells a tad. I was in a non-smoking room, but I smelled traces of nicotine within the domicile. Yet, I was tired, and right there on old route 66, I found a place to stay the night. That’s what really matters when you are solo, right?

I stayed here en route to California from Texas in the ClarkRB April 2004 USA road trip. The hotels in Arizona were starting to get more expensive than the ones back east, and were making me want to turn the wheel around. However, it was a decent sized room, had room for our massive amounts of oversized suitcases. It also had an indoor pool that was filled with snot nosed kids, probably peeing in it.
Either way, other than the price, I cannot knock it. The TV had more channels than most Days Inn across the USA, it was the largest bed, and…of course it had a coffeepot. So, if you need a place to stay in Flagstaff, look right off I-40 just east of town.
