"Donegal, even beautiful at rain!" County Donegal by himalia11

County Donegal Travel Guide: 273 reviews and 782 photos

County Donegal is the most northerly country in Ireland. Its coast is wild and rugged and can absolutely compete with the coastline of Kerry. In the west of this county, you’ll find the largest Gaeltacht (i.e. Irish speaking district) of Ireland. The Irish name for Donegal is Dún na nGall, which means “fort of the foreigner”. More information on Donegal can be found at www.donegaldirect.ie.

During our short stay at Donegal, we had bad luck with the weather: it was raining all the time. But this didn’t discourage us and we still enjoyed the landscape. Sure, everything would have looked nicer with the sun shining and we didn’t see too much of the great Slieve League cliffs, but driving there in rain has been even more adventurous! In any case, I have to visit county Donegal again (I’ve seen so few!) and hope for better weather then!
