| | Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, is the biggest city of Slovenia having around 300.000 inhabitants. It has a pretty old town and there are lots of interesting buildings in the centre. There are buildings from baroque time, and also lots of Art Nouveau buildings, so if you are interested in architecture you’ll like it there! Also, I like the Ljubljanica river with all the bridges! |
And of course there is Jože Plečnik, an architect who had big impact on the face of the town. He was born there in 1872 and designed several places and buildings in Ljubljana (like the National Library, the Market Halls and the Three Bridges) and also in the rest of the country. I’ve heard his name so often during our holidays that I had no problems to remember it! And I like his work, it all looks interesting! | | | Market halls by Plecnik (1940) |
