Losheim am See is a village in the Saarland, between Merzig (12km) and Wadern (16km). Eleven other villages belong to the municipality Losheim, among them is the village Bachem where we spent a week-end.

"Am See" means "at the lake", and there's an artifical lake next to Losheim where you can swim or do other water sports, or walk around. The whole area is perfect for hiking, there are lots of so-called "premium hiking paths" which seem very interesting. Unfortunately we didn't have a chance to try them – I need to come back! There are cycling paths as well, and if you are interested in historical trains you can visit the train musuem or take a trip with the steam train once a month. It's a nice area and there are plenty of things you can do nearby – like visiting Mettlach with the great loop of the river Saar!

Angela, great to see that you have built the only Losheim page here on VT and even better that I am the first visitor of your page. The barefoot path seems to be an interesting experience. I would definitely also give it a try.
