Aschau is located in the so-called Chiemgau, the area of the Chiemsee. The Chiemsee, a famous lake in south Bavaria, is only a short drive away. Aschau is found at the foothills of the Alps, a very nice area with lots of hiking trails. I’ve been there in the late winter which is not the best time as there only was some snow on the top of the mountains and the rest looked a bit dull. But I can imagine that later in the year, it must look very nice there! |

Aschau offers lots of different accommodations – there are hotels and lots different guesthouses with rooms and holiday flats. If you accommodate in Aschau, you’ll get a “guest’s card” at your check-in. With this, you get some discount for the cable car and you can travel with the bus to Sachang for free. There are some other discounts included as well. More information on Aschau can be found on the official webpage www.aschau.de (German only). You also can find a map of Aschau and Sachrang there. |
