Rhodes lies in the sout-east of the Aegean Sea and is the biggest island of the Dodecanese (the 12 islands) and the forth-biggest island of Greece.
Rhodes, with a size of about 1350 square kilometeres, has a maximum length of 78 km and a maximum width of about 35 km. The highest mountain is Atavyros (1215 m).

There are lots of interesting things to see on this island: the city of Rhodos, several castle ruins and monasteries, excavation places, nice villages and areas, and of course lots of beaches. There are sand beaches, pebble beaches, rock beaches and a mixture of them, so you can choose... we found some great places to snorkel and enjoyed the clear water!

Pros and Cons

Pros:nice beaches as well for relaxing as for snorkeling, interesting historic places
In a nutshell:a perfect destination for a combination of "beach holiday" and sightseeing

We also rented a car. I don't think getting lost is a major issue on Rhodes. You just keep going till you get back where you started from...LOL
