A winter week-end in Brugge

At the Rozenhoedkaai
Brugge (or Bruges, how it’s called in French) is a beautiful town in west Belgium. All the old houses, the places, the small cobbled streets, and the canals, it's really great! It was lovely to stroll through the streets, and in the evening it was a special atmosphere there. I only would have liked some more pedestrian areas, the cars sometimes were a bit disturbing... but then you just go to a side street and it's calm again!
We spent a week-end there and could have stayed longer, as you hardly can see everything during this short time. We had much luck with the weather as we had sunshine most of the time, with only a short shower, and so we spent most of the time outside, walking around (or cycling), instead of visiting any museums.

Before we went to Brugge, we made a short stop near Wenduine at the sea. It's not so far and it was very nice to walk at the beach and on the dunes! In the distance, you could see lots of big ships, probably traveling between Zeebrugge and the UK.

Have you read "Brugges Le Mort" by Rodenbach? I came across his crypt in Paris and was very amused by it. Barry in Lafayette

Hi Angela, some great tips on Brugge. I recently saw a film that was based on the premise that Brugge was a little boring. Your tips just prove this is not the case! Dez:)
