Askeaton Travel Guide: 2 reviews and 3 photos

Askeaton is an old little village west of Limerick, close to the river Shannon. On our way from Shannon Airport to Tralee it was our first stop, and we had a very interesting experience there. When walking around the castle ruins, we met an old men and soon we found ourselves inside his house, regarding photos of his family and talking about Germany and Ireland. He led us to his backyard where you could see the ruins and offered us some coffee. He also gave us some useful tips, if he hadn’t told us we wouldn’t have known about the friary in the near. We were surprised to meet such a open-minded and kind men who even invites two complete foreigners to his home! This was a great start of our holidays and I’ll never forget this special experience. So if you happen to go to Askeaton, and you see an old men, with a pipe, in front of a house, this may be him – talk to him! He loves to make new acquaintances!
