Hot-air balloon at the Royal Saltworks

Arc-et-Senans is a small town in the Doubs department, in Franche Comté. It's located 34 km south-west of Besançon and 36 km south-east of Dole.
It's mainly known for its Royal Saltworks, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Besides, there's a hot-air balloon club (Vents du Futur) and if you are lucky you will see some balloons. Once a year in September there's a balloon festival, unfortunately we missed it. It must be great to see so many balloons on one place!

Other interesting places nearby:
- Grotte d'Osselle (15 km) - a great dripstone cave
- Salins-les-Bains (16 km) - nice town with old saltworks where Arc-et-Senans got the salt water from
- Arbois (18 km) - the wine capital of Jura, a nice town with a cave and waterfalls closeby
- Nans-sous-Sainte-Anne (29 km) - great natural site with waterfall and caves
