The Biggesee

Attendorn is situated in the so-called Sauerland, east of Dortmund/Köln. It's mostly known for its cave "Attahöhle" which is really beautiful. Besides, south to Attendorn is the Biggesee, a nice reservoir that is about 20 km long. You can walk along the lake and watch the yachts and surfers, it's possible to swim in the lake at some places, and there are also tours by boat - see my travel tip.

Also about 16 km away is Else, with Karl May festivals - also something which I enjoyed much when I've been there lots of years ago!

You can take boat trips on the Biggesee which is very nice. The main landing stage is in Sondern, some kilometer south... more travel advice
