Aguas Calientes

by nenzo - last update: Feb 14, 2004

Introduction

Main Square
Aguas Calientes is a litte town that has gotten famous because of its location, very close to Machu Picchu.

We stayed here for three nights, and that was far too much. I recommend maximum one night stay in this city, as the whole city seems to be a tourist trap. It is expensive, and people are not as friendly as other places in Peru. The thermal baths were great though, and the nature and relaxing sound of the river makes me think positive about our stay here in total.

Well, I think you are right, it is great to go to the thermal bathes after the Trek, stay the night and then go back to Cusco, but not for much more. Good tips!!
