For us the eiffel tower is THE must see in Paris. This beautyful tower was built already back in 1889, and have welcomed more than 200 milllion visitors. It is a fantastic view looking at it from the ground, but even better is standing high up in the tower looking out over the city. The tower should be experienced both in daylight and evening/night when it is enlightened by thousands of lights. You can walk the stairs to the second floor, but to get to the third floor you need to take the elevator. The queue can be very long, and we skipped the 3. floor. Maybe next visit in Paris we meet up early in the morning and take the elevator to the third floor. By the way, it is good exercise to walk the stairs to the second floor.

La Défense: La Defense

La Defense is a modern futuristic part of Paris. All the cars and Metro are running under the ground making it quite peaceful walking among all the amazing buildings. On the picture I am standing looking at Arc de Triomphe in the distance. Behind me is the modern Arc lying in the center of La Defense.

Cabarets, high class bars and restaurants. Highly priced Cafees where all people are faced towards the street like a cinema. This is Champs Elysees, the most famous and glamourous street of Paris. You will be amazed by the architecture. Every little detail has been thought of, which is common for all Paris and makes it one of the most beautyful towns I know. Just walking in the streets is an experience.

Visit Arc de Triomphe the day you plan to visit Champs Elysees as it is located in the upper end of this famous street. Arc de Triomphe is huge, much bigger than it immedietely looks at this picture. But if you focus at the top of the picture you can see there are tourists standing on top of it.

Arc de Triomphe: Tomb of the unknown soldier

Located directly under Arc de Triomphe this tomb is honoring the unknown dead of First World War. The grave contains the remains of a soldier which identity is unknown. He was buried 11. November 1920, and if you should happen to be in Paris the 11. of November there will be a ceremony taking place as it is every year.
