C130 Hercules Transport Aircraft - Falkland Islands

"Dangle Det"

I spent 4 months here with the Royal Air Force from Dec85 -April 86,working on the Hercules aircraft,2 days on,2 days off.Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience,ended up with 57 penpals,from all over the world.The scenery was impressive if a bit barren in places!!!!Very friendly wildlife including Emperor penguins and various seals.

The Locals

Where did he go ??

These wee King Penguins from a place calledVolenteer Point on the Islands.They look very similar to Emperor Penguins.

Shame about the wire !!

Cant remember what this beach was called but you can see the barbed wire preventing anyone from getting down there as it was full of mines,left over from the Conflict of 1982.

Pros and Cons

Pros:Great scenery and wildlife
Cons:4 seasons in a day,every day !!
