This was a treat for Marias birthday,I surprised her at Bristol Airport with the tickets,fooled her into thinking she was going to Guernsey (no disrespect to the people of Guernsey).
So off we trot to the wonderful city of Venice.It was the first time we'd flown with easy Jet,and found them to be very good,punctual and professional.
We had an excellent view of The Alps as we approached Venice,Fantastic looking mountains.I only wished we sat on the right of the plane ,because as we were landing the view from that side was incredible,the whole city was there in front of you,as the aircraft was only 1/3rd full we all could've sat that side.............BUT not all at once !!!!
We managed to cram alot into the 24hours we were there for,seems a shame not to we feel.

Last year I took Maria to Salzburg,this year Venice....any suggestions for next year ???

|  | Another photo opportunity... This ,in the background, is San Giorgio Maggiore,just across the canal from St. Marks Square.Just hop on a bus and sail across,again we never had time.
This is the 3rd time I've come to Venice for a day,back in the Summer of 1990,Charlie celebrated his 1st birthday here,when we were camping near Cavalino,across the canal. |
Reflections of Venice I took Billy and Sam on a fleeting visit here,they`ve never been before and thoroughly enjoyed the whole trip.
Sam did ask me,"Did they speak Italyish in Italy ?"
Billys favourite part was the huge pizza he had in Birreria Barbanera,the night we arrived,he eventually got more interested in the cultural side of things as well !!!
This was one of the many bridges we crossed whilst bimbling around this beautiful city at night.
Billy and Sam loved the quietness and calm of the whole place,luckily these photos came out quite well,I`ve put some more in "Off the beaten path" section.
