On my third visit to Prague I decided to go up the clock tower in Old Town square and the views were lovely. The snow topped roofs of the buildings covering a large area could be seen. There is a lift that takes you almost to the top but we decide to walk up the ramp whih was not too bad. It was also very cheap to get in the tower.

Some of the houses in Golden Lane are like mini museums. This one had a small area dedicated to Instruments of torture. Glad they are only in a museum as some of them looked pretty wicked to me.

The cathedral in the castle grounds is large and once inside it is even more amazing. It is truly beautiful.

The Gothic church of Our Lady Before Tyn was built in 1365 and stands proud in the Old Town Square. This castle looking church dominates the square and the impressive achitecture and the towers with their spires are awesome.

The castle at night is so beautiful. It sits high on the hill and can be seen from any of the bridges that cross the river. It is so different in the dark to that of of the day. It looks serene and inviting. During the day I did not think it was a welcoming place.

Karlov Most or Charles Bridge as it is more commonly known is a fantastic place to people watch!! There are street sellers, artists and street musicians all lining the magnificent bridge. Charles Bridge is a stone Gothic bridge that connects the Old Town and Mala Strana. It was originally called the Stone bridge. There are towers standing on each end of the bridge and these can be climbed for a view of the bridge form above. There are statues on the bridge and touching one of these will ensure good luck and guarantee your return to Prague. It must be true as we have just returned for the second time!!

About a hundred metres downriver from the National Theatre, stands the best known - and the most controversial - modern building in Prague, the Dancing Building. Featuring two curved towers "waltzing", it is also referred to as the Fred and Ginger. It is a strange twisted building sitting on a corner and jutting out slightly.

wandeljp Thu May 14, 2009 17:24 UTC Good work here:useful tips, beautiful pics, a bit humour... Never been in Praha! Next year perhaps. The art Deco interest me on first degree. Thanks | davn99 Sun Nov 2, 2008 16:48 UTC I totally agree about Cafe Lamberty. It is a rip-off. Food is advertised at cheap prices to get you in then their beer is three times the cost of elsewhere. Coffee costs 89KC (about Ł3). When cover charge is also added the place is very expensive. AVOID | Kaspian Fri Aug 1, 2008 16:24 UTC Ersh... I bought a hot dog from that exact stand you show in your Wenceslas Square photo. It gave me 24-hours of the most brutal heartburn (the only time I didn't feel well during my 10 day trip). You're right--they're s**t! | deecat Thu Jun 26, 2008 12:46 UTC A comprehensive group of pages about Prague. Interesting array of hotels and restaurants. The Jewish area was especially poignant. Thanks for this great tour of a truly beautiful city. |
