They call it Venice of the North and I now understand why. It is a beautiful city. Each time you turn a corner another beautiful sight greets you. It could be a bridge or a sculpture or another example of Flemish architecture. The city consist of 40 bridges over the canals with only 20 boats taking the tourists on a half hour trip along the quiet waterways. Private boats are not permitted on the canals in the city. |
|  | The Markt is the main square and has many beautiful buildings. The restaurants around the square are lovely and it is nice to sit and have a drink watching the world go by. |
Waffles and beer... great combination Belgium as we all know (don't we?) is famous for it's variety of wonderful beers and also waffles and chocolate (not in that order!)
