The back of Cullins Yard

Restaurant Name: Cullins Yard

The feel of the place is cosy and they often have jazz evenings. The seafood can be pricey but is excellent. Ther service is good but can be slow in the summer. The seating area outside is lovely and you can watch the world go by enjoying a good glass of wine or beer etc. They now have space heater so you can enjoy being outside for longer.
Despite recent bad press the restaurant has changed hands I can vouch for the excellent food and service that we had lsat night (13.05.06)
(The jugs of Pimms are great too!)
Bookings for the restaurant are recommended.

Favorite Dish: I have never had anything not worth having!!!

Dinos Castle St Dover

Restaurant Name: DINOS

Excellent Italian restaurant in the centre of town. It is expensive for the area but it serves good home cooking with a good selection of wine.It is ideal for a special occasion. The owners have been here for many years and it is thoroughly reccomended. It is advisable to book especially at weekends.

Favorite Dish: Any of the pasta dishes are good and there are always specials on the menu. Visited on 14th April 2005 and had hte cicken stuffed with spinach and ricottta - mm washed down with a bottle of Chianti and followed by Pancotta

Restaurant Name: The Bell - Lydden

This pub is in a village about 3 miles from Dover and is worth a visit especially if you are hungry. They have special nights like Mexican when they serve the most wonderful fajitas. they have steak nights serving 16oz steak and the trimmings. They aso do agood Sunday lunch. They also have an a la cart menu which has a wide range to choose from.

Favorite Dish: The Mexican nights have always been my favourite.

Railway Bell

Restaurant Name: Railway Bell

This restaurant at the rear of a lovely pub is a favourite of mine.
The service is good and the wine selection makes it a great choice for an evening out.
It is slightly out of the town but if you have a car it only takes 10 minutes at the most to get there.

Favorite Dish: The lamb shank is excellent. Itfalls off the bone and melts in your mouth.

When the customers have gone!

Restaurant Name: The Sea Breeze

At last Dover has a new restaurant and it seems that it is going to be a hit with locals and tourists alike.
It is run by 2 Italian brothers and the menu is a mix of fish and meat. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and the service is very good.
The place itself seats about 60 people on two floors.

Favorite Dish: The cod with a herb crust melted in the mouth.

Postcard of the Pub

Restaurant Name: The Smugglers

The Smugglers is one of those places that you keep going back to as it is so good. The only trouble is it gets booked up quite a few weeks in advance. There is a nice restaurant in the conservatory part of the pub and you can also eat in the bar area. The owners are friendly and very hospitable.
The head waiter is Spanish and has been there for many years. The portions are huge and I have NEVER finished one of the meals yet (although I keep trying!)

Favorite Dish: There is a mix of Mexican (Their fajitas are excellent) Pizzas which are big and lovely and also Balti cuisine.
Difficult to say what is my favourite as all the meals I have had there have been good.

These quaint tea rooms are in the Market Square in Dover and is ideal for that cuppa in the afteroon with a slice of home made cake.
Alternatively coffee in the morning!!

Favorite Dish: Carrot cake is very good but the cakes change regularly

Restaurant Name: La Scala

This small friendly Italian restaurant is in the town centre and is excellent value for money. They specialise mostly in pasta dishes but also serve fish and meat dishes.

Favorite Dish: Risotto with mushrooms and asparagus is yummy......
