Cascais sits on the north bank of the mouth of the Tagus and has been a holiday resort for well over a century. Small fishing boats surround the sheltered bay and there are a few beautiful little sandy beaches dotted around which are for the most part unspoilt. Watch the fishermen and if you are lucky as we were see the cruise liners leaving Lisbon. Take a worthwhile 3 km walk around the bay to the Boca do Inferno (Mouth of Hell) where the sea rushes into the caves in the rocks. The spray of the sea makes a worthy picture or two if you can capture it of course. |
