My husband managed to keep the destination of our honeymoon secret for a whole year and I was so pleased with his romantic choice. We stayed in the southerly resort of Desenzano which had easy access to the rest of the resorts on the lake. It also has a railway station with trains running to Milan, Verona and Venice. The place is friendly, warm, interesting and, well, Italian. It has good Food, nice climate, excellent Beer and even better wine!! Although tourist facilities are well developed, the lake is still a working lake as can be seen from the number of fishermen on it. Lake Garda is a large lake. With an area 143 square miles and a coastline of 77 miles, it's not something you can walk around in a day. |

| | Desenzano Desenzano is a typical Italian lakeside town which is dominated by the castle. It has loads of alleyways and archways aswell as a Roman villa. It is totally unspoilt by international tourism and much favoured by the Italians themselves. There are many wonderful restaurants serving wonderful pasta dishes. There are also man made beaches to soak up the sun and lovely little shops to look around. |
