Baie Des Phoques | Sunday market in St Valery Sur Somme |
St Valery is about 75 miles from the port of Calais and is easily reached by the A16 motorway. It is a small seaside town and is named The Bay of Seals. (Baie des Phoques) It is a typically French town and has strong links with Joan of Arc who was imprisoned here in the 15th century. There are many wonderful restaurants specialising in seafood. There is a market here on Sunday selling everything from clothes to vegetables and pots and pans. It is an idyllic place to spend a weekend. |
