St Valery Sur Somme

Baie Des Phoques

Sunday market in St Valery Sur Somme
St Valery is about 75 miles from the port of Calais and is easily reached by the A16 motorway.
It is a small seaside town and is named The Bay of Seals. (Baie des Phoques) It is a typically French town and has strong links with Joan of Arc who was imprisoned here in the 15th century. There are many wonderful restaurants specialising in seafood.
There is a market here on Sunday selling everything from clothes to vegetables and pots and pans.
It is an idyllic place to spend a weekend.

I've always been fascinated by Joan of Arc's saga. Thanks for visiting our Cambridge pages. I was just putting up some new photos there.
