You can access the Flumserberg resort with public transportation from one of two train stations : Flums (first found coming from Chur, Austria, parts of Germany and Italy) or Unterterzen, Quarten (first found coming from other Zürich, Luzern, France or other parts of Germany or Italy)

1. taking the bus from Flums train station, which brings you up to the ski cabins at 1200m (Tannenheim)

2. from the cabins located directly at lake Walensee (420m), in front of the train station Untertertzen (Quarten), directly at the lake, that bring you up to Tannenbodenalp (1400 m).
This makes Unterterzen by far the lowest located gate to a ski resort in the Alps.

July 7, 2003 - from Prodalp towards Quarten county

Flums is the only gate to one of four valleys that bring föhn to Heidiland : the pristine Schilstal.

Flums is also one of two gates to the ski resort Flumserberg.

Flumserberg is a ski area extending over two counties : Flums (top start for a descent : Prodalp, 1939 m) and Quarten (top start : Leist : 2222 m).

the Leist tops the mountain to the left

The newspaper Neue Zürcher Zeitung am Sonntag included the Leist among the top 5 "most difficult descents" of Switzerland, in its edition of December 7, 2003.
