high wall. Windsurf and ski ... | November 23, windsurfing with air temp. of 20° C |
... the same week and just 3 miles apart ... to make this dream come true I'm sure there's no better place in the world than Walensee, the cleanest lake of Switzerland.
The treasure is right in the middle and like so often, so close to you. But you need to see beyond the smoke, the highway tunnel, the fog or whatever ....
Walensee, the lake right in the middle, and yet hidden from people traveling through.
It looks like an alpin lake and yet it's home to one of the best wines of Switzerland - and for sure the most exclusive.
The only swiss lake that never has frozen. This summer of 2003 you could swim with water temperatures above 20? almost 4 months long. Ok, 2003 was the warmest summer ever measured in Central Europe, but still ...
And even in late November there are always a few foehn days, where air temperatures reach 20 C and windsurfer dreams come true. |
| November 23, last autum colors and foehn wind |
| | But then things can change dramatically overnight the wall that hours before still had no traces of snow all the way from the water up to the peak ...
--------- Note 1 : you can see the same photo larger, 1280x960 http://forum.wetteronline.de/pic/2003/pic227903.jpg
Note 2: in this map showing temperatures at 9:50 PM, November 23, you can see the föhn arch. Walensee is the lake between the two stations with the highest temperatures, still above 19° (föhn lasted 3 days and temperature hardly changes between day and night). http://forum.wetteronline.de/pic/2003/pic227904.jpg
Note 3: www.wetteronline.de is the best weather and climate site I know. There's also an english version at http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/ ----- |
| | Flumserberg, Kerezenberg or Amden ? ... appears in the morning all in white.
Then you hear the call of one of the three ski resorts around the lake and you know it's time to put yur skis and go up.
Note: a web camera that keeps turning along a 270? panorama view - you can see the still picture or the streaming video - at (english) http://www.flumserberg.com/en/welcome.cfm |
