"China - Qingdao" Qingdao by Intrepidduck

Qingdao can strike the visitor as a bit of a mystery town - as to how did a genuine slice of German culture get to East Asia. This is no new kind of Asian style theme park either. It is authentic colonial to the core as it was a former foreign trade centre like Hong Kong was.

While Qingdao is not the "real" China it is a dynamic city in the movement of the modernizing and rappidly changing face of China. This said it hasn't been totally spoilt through ruthless development as of yet. But in a country rappidly changing and a city which has been discovered by the growing internal tourist boom in China this city is not far from a paradise "lost".
