If your stuck in SE Queensland and can't stand the developers' dream on the coast or in Brisbane, than head to the hills of the Sunshine Coast hinterland for Maleny. This town is a real gem where the community have held back much which has all too often damaged much of the state in recent decades. While the community lost their battle with a national supermarket chain, they were able to pressure it to comply with strich local environmental plans. Fortunately for the rest of the town its old fashioned charm is intact.

Take a wander along relaxed Maple Street with its pleasant cafes, community run businesses and friendly locals.
