"Oahu - North Shore" Oahu by Vikefan

We went to Hawaii for the first time thanks to the nuptials for my sister, sho got married on Sunset Beach. We rented a home just west of Haleiwa, very close to the Dillingham Airport. What a beautiful home!! Unfortunately, the weather stunk the whole 7 days that we were there, WIND and cloudy. In fact it was so windy, that the beaches were closed and tourist boating was canceled due to the extremely high waves, 25' to 40' waves,..incrediable!!! but, we still found things to do. We know Haleiwa, we went to the Polynesian Center, USS Missouri (Mighty Mo), USS Bowfin (Submarine), Waimanalo and Kane'ohe Bay. We also got to spend time with two of our foreign exchanges students from Japan who flew over to see us,..we had not seen them in over 20 years!!!

• Pros:Being from Minnesota, the tempature!
• Cons:Unfortunately being winter, wind and waves. Also, pretty expensive, surprised by the poverty and disrepair of homes and abandoned vehicles.
• In a nutshell:Expensive, incrediable waves, renting a vacation home is the way to go!!
