Jamaica was never on my list of places to go but this was a gift from some friends so off we went. It was beautiful. Lush, green, blue, warm and relaxing. Normally I like to play, explore, be challenged and find some adventure. And I'm not one to go to plush hotels and sit all day but on this trip that was my favorite thing to do.
We only had 3 days and I still can't believe how lazy we were. Our days consisted of waking up, making our way down to breakfast, back up to the room to change into our bathing suits then down to the beach.
Next came sitting under palm trees on the sand. And more sitting. And more sitting along with some lazy reading. I'd glance up from time to time to look at the ocean that we barely had energy to go play in.
Just when I would wonder if I could be any more decadent someone would come along and give us drinks.
After a few hours of this we would walk an entire 30 yards to sit at a table and have lunch. (Sigh, the effort of the walk nearly killed us.) After lunch we'd walk another 20 feet and recline in lunges at pool side. After resting from the exhausting walk to the chairs I'd get up and get into the pool. I'd slip into an inner tube and then would spend the next 2 hours floating around a slow moving "lazy river" which would take me around and around, under lush foliage, listening to men playing steel drums on the sand nearby and birds singing. Sometimes I'd make the effort to lift my head and look at the gorgeous ocean. But, understandably, after this I would have to lay my head back on the inner tube, close my eyes and rest.
From there we'd go to our room, change for dinner then walk all the way back down (OK, fine, we took an elevator) to a restaraunt (outside overlooking the ocean) and enjoyed dinner.
And what did we do after that? We would talk about going out but instead we'd go back to our room, turn on the tv and fall asleep. After a few hours we'd wake up, turn off the tv then fall back to sleep.
Man, was that trip exhausting.
