Bring on the German Police! I traveled to Munich with four other friends from Canada. We were all staying in the UK for a year during 2003.
We stayed in Munich for 4 days and within those four days we became very familiar with the German Police.
Our first run-in with the cops was on the first night of our stay at our hostel. Two of the guys I was with decided to go out later on in the evening to check out Munich at night. The rest of us went to bed and when morning came, the two guys were nowhere to be found. Sandy and I stayed at the hostel in case the guys returned and Stu went to look in hot spots of Munich for them. Eventually around 3:00pm 17 hours later, the two guys returned with a very interesting story. Apparently, while they were lookin over the city they came across a bunch of bikes and decided that it would be fun to test them out at 2:00 am. They were stopped by the police, questioned (with great difficulty because of the language), and ended up having to spend the night in jail. They were fed prison food. Anyways, they were supposed to go before a judge but for some reason it was delayed thus they were let off with a warning. Sandy and I were scared to death while they were gone. We thought they might have been jumped.
The next night the five of us were all drinking in the Hostel laundry room...Stu was taking a photograph for every beer he drank to get the progression of his drunkenness...around 19 after three beer bongs he was headed into chaos. Ander and I went upstairs to play cards for a bit and sandy and Stu were left in the laundry room. I went back to my room to get something and Stu was standing there covered in white dust. He looked like jack frost.....i was speechless, he explained that himself and Sandy had found a fire extinguisher and tested it out.....spraying the whole hostel's downstairs. I reminded him that all of our stuff was down there and we had to go get it...unfortunately stu kicked the door shut locking it so when the front desk was asked to have the door unlocked they saw the white cloud on the security camera. (They thought there was a fire downstairs) The guy at the front desk rushed downstairs and found Stu trying to get back into the room where he had sprayed the fire extinguisher. They started to fight in the hallway (you could hear them shouting throughout the whole hostel) Stu was trying to deny having any part in the fire extinguisher going off (even though he was covered head to toe in white) So finally they stopped fighting and the cops were called. Sandy and Stu were taken to the police station......They were warned and told to pay a fine for the damages.....Stu decided that he wasn't going to pay the fine so he left at 3:00 am and went to sleep in the airport.....good times. |
| | Beer Please! Go to the Beer Gardens!! They were amazing.
Although I do have a not so great story about one trip to the beer Gardens.
We went to one of the most well known Beer Gardens in Munich and it was quite classy. Some of us had been drinking and were a little rowdy. We sat down and waited for a waiter to come and take our order. On the table were huge pretzels to eat with whatever we ordered. Finally, the waiter came and we told him we needed a minute. After deciding, we tried to get his attention to come back and take our order but he was busy with other tables. Stu, being a bit drunk decided that it would be acceptable to whistle to the waiter to get his attention. BIG MISTAKE THERE! The waiter stormed over, appalled that someone would have the gull to whistle at him and stated 'You whistle at a dog, not me'
That started a war between Stu and the waiter, they started yelling at each other to the point where physical conflict was about to occur. At this point we were asked to leave (we had received our drinks and had been eating the pretzels) but Stu refused to pay for anything. Sany was insulting the waiter saying how he was 'the worst person she had ever met'. (I was not drinking and feeling very embarrassed at that point.) So Stu stood up, grabbed all the pretzels left in the basket and walked out of the place. Everyone else left as well and I apologized to the staff and offered to pay. I honestly felt very bad. But it was and interesting experience. |
Dachau Concentration Camp This is one of the most interesting places I have ever been to. Please note the references regarding the camp in the travel tips below. | | | Gates into the Concentration Camp |
