Day 1 - Check in at The Grand Hyatt | Grand Hyatt entrace from Grand Central Station |
We landed at the JFK airport at 12:30pm after a nice flight on Jet Blue direct from Tampa Florida. Jet Blue is a great airline! The fare was inexpensive at 460.00 for 2 people round trip. The planes are new and in excellent condition, the on board staff is friendly and helpful, the seats are all leather and each seat has it's own direct TV set up. This makes the flight go very quickly!!
The airport was smoothly run, security was tight but after 9/11 we expected that. We had our baggage and were getting in a cab within 30 minutes.
The cab drivers are crazy in NYC so we were at our hotel in Manhattan in 35 minutes.
Check in went quickly and we were in our room within 20 minutes. The hotel, while being a bit worn looking in areas, was very nice. Yes, there are stains on the carpet and the furniture was a bit worn looking, but the hotel is undergoing a 40 million dollar renovation begining in January 2004. All the reviews we've read about the Hyatt mentioned that they didn't have any of the normal "modern conveniences" as did most other hotels in the city like hairdryers and marble tubs, but this is going to be part of the 40 million dollar renovation. Once that's completed the hotel is going to be the BEST the city has to offer. If you want any more info on the hotel, feel free to email us and we will answer any questions you might have. |
