bIf you look carefully , the bridge is not straight but curvy. This bridge is jammed packed day and night with street performers, artist , handicraft peddler and tourist from all over the corners of the world. And its also this bridge that I spend all my coins ....well what can you do when you see a woman who is blind singing beautiful arias ? or a man singing some familiar pop songs in the middle of the night and everybody starts singing with him ?
Named after the Emperor Charles IV in 19th century the Charles Bridge. Its the oldest bridge in Prague. The bridge was built in place of the Judita’s bridge that was badly damaged by a flood in 1342. The bridge was founded on 9 July 1357 at 5.31 o'clock. It is 520m long and 9m wide. The bridge is flanked with 30 statues and the oldest is statue of St. John Nepomuk from 1683. Many of them have been replaced with copies. Originals are kept in the Lapidarium of the National Museum and at Vysehrad. One of the most famous is the bronze crucifix of 1629. If you look close, you can see Hebrew lettering The bridge is now only for the pedestrians. Magnificent Gothic Old Town Bridge Tower was designed by Petr Parler and built at the end of the 14th century. It is considered the finest Gothic tower in central Europe, mainly for its decoration. There are marvelous views of the Vltava river Valley, the Zofin, Strelecki Island, the Old Town and the Lesser Town
According to legend the cobblestones are bound together with thousands of eggs, which may explain how the bridge has survived the constant tramping of tourists.
thats my cool friend Juan
St. Vitus's Cathedral is the largest and the most important church in Prague. Apart from divine services the coronations of Czech kings and queens also took place in it. The remains of provincial patron saints, sovereigns, noblemen and archbishops are interred here.
The cathedral is the third church consecrated to the same saint on the identical site. About the year 925 Prince Vaclav I founded a Romanesque rotunda here which after 1060 was converted into a triple-naved basilica with two steeples. The importance of the cathedral grew especially after the establishment of the Prague bishopric in 973 and the founding of the body of canons - the St. Vitus chapter, which later became an important cultural and administrative institution

This is a former pilgrimage place (with a copy of Santa Casa ) was built in 1626, and the Baroque Church of the Nativity of Our Lord was added in 1734-35. The facade of the front wing was rebuilt by K. I. Dienzenhofer in 172O-22. The tower contains 30 loretto bells which play the Song of Our Lady. The most valuable item of the liturgical treasury is the so-called Prague Sun, a monstrance weighing over 12 kg and embellished with 6,500 diamonds
When we go there an old lady practically follow everywhere we go , keep telling us no to take pictures ....and guess what other tourist were snapping away , so we waited till she is busy lecturing other tourist and we start to click a few pics.

This was the second church built in the Prague Castle in the Czech Republic. St. George's Basilica was founded in 920 by Prince Vratislav I. The Roman style Basilica is located near the Benedictine Monastery . The present appearance of the church dates back to the time of the reconstruction after a fire in 1142. F. M. Kanka added the Baroque Chapel of St. John Newpomuk in the early 18th century. After the destruction of the convent by troops in the late 18th century, the church was remolded between the years 1887 and 1908. F. Mach's design tried to restore the Romanesque appearance. From 1969 to 1975, it was reconstructed to adapt to the installation of the old Bohemian art of the National Gallery.
Two significant events
There were two significant events that increased the importance of the church. One of them was the placing of objects of the first Czech female martyr and Saint, Ludmila, into the church. The other event was when the first Czech convent was founded by Princess Mlada. The tombstone of St. Ludmila, in the Saint Ludmila Chapel, is a tourist attraction worth seeing. Carved out of limestone, the tombstone dates back to the year 1370. On the tombstone lies a sculpture of her body. The church was burned 150 years later during a military siege of the castle. The tomb of St. Ludmila was the only thing that remained untouched. A major attraction is the deathly sculpture of a skeleton, which has been taken over by frogs, snakes, and lizards. This sculpture has been nicknamed Brigit. Supposedly, an envious sculptor killed his girlfriend and threw her into the brook of the Jeleni Prikop.

Prague is a well known city because of its Gothic style Cathedral of Saint Vitus, the Tyn Cathedral, also known as Church of our Lady, and all of the beautiful towers, spires, and churches. Prague is the capital of the Czech Republic. The city has about 1,200,300 inhabitants, and it covers an area of almost 500 square kilometers
Next to the Hradcany Castle is the Gothic Style Cathedral of Saint Vitus, with the tombs of many Bohemian Kings. The city of Prague is normally called “The golden city of one hundred spires,” but often it is called “The golden city of five hundred spires” and “The golden city of one thousand spires.” Prague is called this because of its beautiful cathedrals and their pointy spires. This wonderful city is well known because of these cathedrals and spires. The two most beautiful cathedrals in my opinion would have to be the St. Vitus Cathedral and The Tyn Cathedral.

who is he ?
I would say that if you dont know him , then you dont really know Prague. Jan Hus, who was originally known as John of Husinec, became one of the greatest personalities in Czech history. He gave all his knowledge, abilities and strengths to serving the just cause of the common people. Hus constantly encouraged the ordinary believer’s self-confidence and courage.
His teachings also called for preaching and Bible reading in the common language and for all Christians to receive full communion Hus also opposed the relatively new doctrine of Papal infallibility when Papal decrees contradicted the Bible. And he was persecuted as a heretic.
The conflict between Hus and the prelates, led by the Archbishop of Prague, climaxed in 1412. The Pope was then at war with the King of Naples and was, therefore, in need of a great deal of money. So he decided to sell indulgences publicly to all Christians. “Everybody who bought indulgences for a certain sum was forgiven his sins and then could buy himself an after-life in Paradise instead of in hell.” Hus severely criticized the Pope's action. After this struggle against the sale of indulgences Hus had to leave Prague. His friends feared for his life because he was excommunicated and no Christian was allowed to give him food, drink, or a place to stay.

Beautiful houses ...
Yes. this is the most popular place in town but beware when you look up or busy snapping pics, coz there is where the pickpockets love to savour his/her victim !
The Cllock Tower
The clock shows three individual sets of data. It shows the revolutions of the Sun, the revolutions of the moon, and the revolutions of the stars. The clock is divided into red and blue halves representing day and night. The Procession of Apostles delights the crowd as they one by one at small doors at the top of the wonderful clock.
The surrounding houses
If ou look around , you will notice that all the houses are not only beautifully painted but adorned with interesting sculptures. And its so nice to see these houses so stain-less and so clean. Plus if you realy look at the whole of its the colour of the houses compliments each other. One house's colour blends with the one beside it and so forth ...

suffered through many catastrophes
There is a place in Prague which is called the Jewish Quarter or Josefov , its lies to the north of Old Town Square. Make sure you dont go early October ( 1st to 4th Oct I think , but reconfirm ) because there is some Jewish festival around the area and all the Synagogues are closed to the public, except Jews.
Why is it called Old New Synagogue
The Old-New Synagogue in Prague has suffered through many catastrophes in its history to become the oldest surviving synagogue in Europe. The synagogue is also known by the names Staronova and more commonly Altneuschul. This name reflects the influence of the German language in Prague which, until 1860, was the country’s official language. It also reflects that fact that the synagogue is the growth of the old synagogue “Altschul”. %ccoAltneuschul synagogue when translated means old new synagogue or temple. “Alt” means old, “ neu” is new, and “schul” is temple or synagogue%c*
Legend says
One legend says the synagogue was built by emigrants who came from Jerusalem after the Temple was destroyed in the year 70. The legend says that the Jerusalem Jews brought stones from the temple and used them for the foundation of the Old-New Synagogue. By doing this, they believed they were laying upon themselves and the community the condition that when the Messiah came, the building would be torn down and the foundation stones taken back to Zion. According to this legend, the synagogue name was Al-tenai Schul which when translated means “on the condition that synagogue”.

Situated in the Old Town square , you cant really miss this so called the most magnificent baroque building in Prague. Its construction was finished in 1756, and features a dominant cupola and bell tower, as well as one of the largest paintings in Europe depicting St Nicholas in various guises which you'll find in the nave. On one of his visits to Prague, W. A. Mozart played the organ at the church and there are now frequent lunchtime and eventide recitals of his music.
