You might ask yourselves why the City of rock, but I'll explain it... :)
I went to Oslo on my
Scandinavian tour, right after
Uppsala,
Stockholm,
Finland &
Göteborg. It was quite a big trip for me, a lot op new places, cultures & people. Since I'm studying Scandinavistics, I've always been waiting for the right time to go there. So I had this chance & I took it! :)
Anyway, after all the cities I've been to in Sweden, Norway was quite different, although quite similar. Sweden has this totally relaxed touch, which I really loved. The feeling of being home, friendly people, nice surroundings... I'll just put it this way: Stockholm swept me off my feet! :)
When I came to Oslo, it felt a bit different - not in a bad way - it just felt different. :) In the end the difference wasn't so big, 'coz I was staying at some friends who originally come from Sweden, but live & work in Oslo now. It was a great thing seeing them again, going around the city, eating ice cream, drinking beer, barbecuing, swimming in Oslofjord & simply having it easy.
The city is a bit different that Swedish cities, from what I've seen. It looks even more relaxed - and it feels that way too! It didn't seem so busy & all - people were doing their daily stuff, but in a relaxed manner. Live in Oslo & take it easy! :)
Now about rock! There are a lot of rock, metal, gothic & other bands in Oslo & in Norway in general. There are concerts of some kind all the time, people going out & just hanging out. As the matter of fact, the
Øya festival was being held at the time I was there, so you could see all the people hanging out in the streets, the squares & on the beach where the festival was held. The festival introduces new & exiting bands & artists from Norway & from all over the world, so you can see Röyksopp, Kings of Convenience, Asian Dub Foundation, the Hives, Tortoise,Nils Petter Molvær & many other great bands! :)
Therefore I think it's a rock city - well, definitely rockier than those I've seen before. :)
