What to say about the Coliseo? It's big, it's ancient & it's definitely unique! It looks like the Romans really enjoyed themselves back then... :) You might have to wait a bit longer get inside, but when you do, be sure to check out every corner of it! Every inch of this architectural masterpiece is amazing. There is a couple of dozens of coliseums located all around the Mediterranean. One of them is in Istria's Pula, the third biggest & one of the best preserved in the world.

This coliseum's shape is oval, which makes it pretty unique. The lowest part was filled with halls which led to different parts of the Colosseo making some kind of a labyrinth. The Romans released lions on christians who were trapped inside the 'stage', while the Romans enjoyed themselves. Gladiator fights were also held here, so the only thing they needed was wine, grapes & 'Panem et circenses' = bread & games! Ave, Caesar! :)

The Pantheon [Greek for 'dedicated to all gods'] is a totally, typically & utterly Roman on the outside - just like any other great building... It was built in 26 AD & has often been copied since it's the best preserved Roman monument. But when you enter the home of all Roman gods & check out its extraordinary interior, it's a totally different story! It's extremely dark which gives it an even more mystical touch. Huge pillars, the huge dome with the big hole in the center of it, light streaming like the Sun itself - all of it gives you a chill... It's filled with tombs, some of them pretty famous for their even more famous owners: king Umberto I, king Vittorio-Emmanuelle II, queen Margherita, the renaissance painter Raphael (born Raffaello Santi) etc. I've heard stories that the rain can't fall inside the Pantheon throught the opening & it was slightly raining when I was there, but I couldn't bet on anything... ;) Anyway, take some time to comb this amazing piece of history through!

Fontana di Trevi is probably the most famous fountain in Rome! Lots of people throw coins in the water just hoping their wishes are gonna come true. And if you do throw a coin, you have to come back to Rome. Well, I did [throw the coin, that is...] :)

Piazza di Spagna is a famous meeting point & a perfect place to rest your feet after shopping. It's famous for its stairs & the Chiesa di Trinità - the church of the Holy Trinity. There's always a lot of people sitting on the stairs, tourist taking photos, locals playing all kinds of instruments aso. A really cool place to slow down & suck the marrow of Roman busy way of life...

The Mouth of the Truth is situated in the atrium of a church, but it's actually nothing special. You can see it through the bars from the outside too, if there's not 673 tourist to block your view. You can check the inside of the church, which is more interesting - and a bit taken aback by the Boca... It is said that if you put your hand in the Mouth & tell a lie, you will lose it! Don't go there with your partner! ;)

Forum Romanum is unbelievable! It used to be the central part of the Old Rome with temples, halls, baths, houses, squares & markets situated within it! It really feels so strange walking the same paths that people took thousands of years ago! It just feels so amazing! There's really a lot to see, so I'd suggest allowing yourself enough time to enjoy it fully... At the moment I was there a new level below the ones you can see was being dug out, so I guess there's a lot more to it than one might think...
