As I said, Berlin is known as the city that's being built & re-built 24/7. There's evidence of that wherever you look - cranes are simply all around the place!
The first time I saw the building on the photo was when I was in Berlin a couple of years ago. I thought it should've been done by now, but when I saw it again this time, I realized how much work it actually was! It's the new Berlin Central Station or Hauptbahnhof - Lehrter Bahnhof. It's made of a giant steel & glass roof & it's construction really looks amazing! ;)
It's basically built as a half-pipe, so that the whole area with the platforms is closed from above, although with an empty part in the middle to break the structure. Last time I was in Berlin I didn't managed to get close, but this time I just had to go there, so I just exited the Metro & found myself under this creation...
Although the most of the work around the Bahnhof is done, there's still the underground passages to be finished, as well as some buildings along it! But wow, I think it's a real work of art!
I found some pages with great photos of Lehrter Bahnhof - one of them shows what the Station was like before & there are other photos that show what it should look like now! Check it here: http://www.snugu.de/lehrterbf/pa
