Visit Manchester during the Summer and you'll find parking meters level with your face. Visit during the Winter and you'll know why....Manchester receives roughly 70 inches of snow, per year; and some years, the snowbanks become so high that the city resorts to dumping snow into the Merrimack River. Though other northern cities receive more snow per year, the Queen City lies close enough to the Atlantic to get a lashing from brutal, blustery ocean storms, and far enough North to receive snow when Massachusetts gets rain. As a result these "Nor'Easters" can be brutal and icy. New Hampshirites know how to drive in the snow - and when not to. Follow their example.
