    • This is the strangest thing I have ever seen. It is a dedication to death. And yes, those are all real bones from the monks who lived there and believed in this order. The dirt was transported from Jerusalem. Even the lightbulb holders were made from bones!

    It is called the Cemetery of the Capuchins-3rd Chapel and located at Via Veneto 27.

    • I have found that reading a book about where you're at adds so much to the journey. I spent a whole afternoon sitting in the Colisseum and Forum reading 'I Claudius'. It was amazing as I could visualize the action in the book right in front of me! The climax was when the book talked about the paintings at Lydia's house and I went to the Forum and saw Lydia's house with the paintings! Yea, I know the author saw that too but it was still a great experience (another example is to read Zorba the Greek on a Greek island).

     walked to the termini at 6 or maybe earlier....never felt unsafe in rome maybe cause it was november...or maybe i live in montana but still have my east coast attitude.
