It's about what you expect it to be. The South's answer to Vegas and Atlantic City. Same things happened to this city that happened to Vegas and Atlantic City. But, it's a fun getaway if you're in the area, something different to do. And, I must admit, the food is wonderful! We usually go there on our way from Mobile to New Orleans. It tends to be a little more calm than Atlantic City and Vegas too. I understand the economic benefits of making Biloxi a gambling city, but it must have been interesting getting something started like that in the Bible Belt.

The hotels are nice and you can find great deals. We got a hotel room there one weekend at Treasure Bay casino and it was reasonable. The room was nice, you got vouchers and it was close to places to eat and go out. Of course, the best thing about casinos is the free alcohol:) And we were just there for the lights, anyway. I can't say anymore about that.

What else is there to do in the town?

Maybe I just don't know it well, but I have been there quite a few times. Most people I know will agree with me, there isn't much else. There's some fun bars with bands, a few museums, a theatre and beaches. But I don't really recommend the beaches in the town. They are right up on the street and you have an interstate ramp directly beside you. However, Gulf Islands National Seashore is close and that's a nice place. We went to Biloxi one afternoon and read about the Biloxi Lighthouse as an attraction. I really like lighthouses--they are amazing structures and the history associated with them is fascinating. This lighthouse is not one that I put on my list of impressive or appealing lighthouses. It's in the middle of the street and is like 10 feet tall or something. And it's closed right now--not that it would take you more than 5 minutes to get in, get up and get back down. I checked out the website for the City of Biloxi and it says that "it is the 1st reported cast metal lighthouse in the south" BUT, there is one cool fact about it--most of the lightkeepers were female!
The good thing is that you don't have to go out of your way to see it. The bad thing is that you might think it's a model of a lighthouse
