We decided to spend our fifth wedding anniversary in Quebec, as it was closer and cheaper than flying to Paris. :) Special thanks to acemj for suggesting Q.C. along with Montreal - you made our trip!
We spent our first night in Montreal, then drove up the St. Lawrence River the next afternoon to Quebec City. We spent the first evening wandering around Petit Champlain and soaking up the romance of this charming city.
The next day we made our leisurely way up to Chateau Frontenac and explored the "castle's" hallways until our brunch reservation. After stuffing ourselves, we had to burn off the calories so we started walking, roughly following the upper ramparts (with a detour to the Old Port Market and train station) back around to the Grande Allee. (Grande Allee, Grande Allee! I just like the way that sounds.)
We decided we were too tired for the Citadel tour, so we dragged ourselves back to the hotel, had a quick cocoa pick-me-up, and headed back out for a romantic anniversary dinner along the river. |

| Pros: | "Historic, walkable, romantic - beautiful!" | | Cons: | "Not as much English spoken as Montreal" | | In A Nutshell: | "Much more than Chateau Frontenac - and more than you can see in a weekend!" |
