My husband had been wanting to go to San Francisco for some time, so when we made plans to visit his brother in Oregon, we decided to drive down to No. California as well. We spent 2-1/2 days in SF and got to know the basic tourist spots, and their very pushy panhandlers, pretty well. All in all, SF is a hilly city with some famous landmarks, but I didn't leave my heart there. I did, however, abandon a pair of bleached-out 80s jeans in SF - more room for souvenirs that way. I should have left them on Haight Street with all the other discarded clothes we saw on the sidewalks, but alas, I was wearing them that day. So I just left them in the hotel room. |

VeronicaG Thu Feb 15, 2007 23:35 UTC We'll be going to San Francisco in July, so thanks for the great tips on purchasing Alcatraz tickets ahead and NOT going to Union Sq. expecting a cable car ride anytime soon--take care and stay warm and snuggly! | starship Tue Mar 8, 2005 15:34 UTC Excellent page with good coverage of attractions. Sorry to say I didn't leave my heart there either--I was expecting the SF from maybe the 1950's but it was alot more gritty than that time era! | Jenniflower Tue Mar 8, 2005 14:22 UTC You enjoy exactly what we do! I LOVE your tips, esp the museum ones. Frank Lloyd Wright - brilliant man! Alcatraz - would LOVE to go there - what a history. Thanks for this lovely page ~ Jen ~ | easyoar Tue Nov 16, 2004 23:19 UTC Great tips on Frisco! Been several years since I went, but it all came flooding back! Andy |
