Getting TO/AROUND: I'd so often seen the Hudson, and crossed the Hudson, but had never actually been ON the Hudson River, until I'd been on the River Rose. The River Rose is a New Orleans paddlewheeler which was brought up the Atlantic coastline to the Hudson River. Now, she runs cruises out of Newburgh, NY. On our cruise, we paddled south of Newburgh, past Breakneck and Storm King mountains, in sight of Bannerman's Castle down to Cold Spring, where we turned and made our leisurely way back. It was the perfect way to spend a warm autumn day, just cruising the river, cold drinks and cameras in hand.
