A Visit to the Land of Illusion

Ibi is located on the skirts of Teixereta hill, 34 km west from Alicante and 132 km south from Valencia. The altitude the town is located (over 800 m) makes Ibi a nice place to live during the summer and a cold place to stay during winter (during winter of 2006 temperatures were close to zero degrees C).

The town's main industry is based on plastics and toys, although nobody should ignore that Ibi is the greatest ice cream producer in Spain. This dedication to these delicious delights began when the huge ice industry developed from 16th to 20th century, including Ibi in its way to the coast (where ice dealers sold their product to keep fish fresh).

Ibi is also a good base camp for those who want to hike, since several trails leave from there and because it's located 20 km away from Font Roja Natural Park (the best preserved Natural Park in the Comunidad Valenciana). The old town is very pleasant to walk up and down and most neighborhoods also have their own nice little squares where most of people mix up to chatter and no secret about locals remains unveiled.
