Mexico City

A city with a well-preserved history

Zocalo, Mexico City
Despite what I had heard about Mexico City before I visited it -- that it was too big, too crowded, too dangerous, I found it to be wonderful! I thoroughly enjoyed my short trip to the city, and regretted I did not have more time for it.

Mexico City is loaded with history, museums, great restaurants and fun nightspots. There was so much I didn't see during my short trip - I recommend a week.

I will be back when I have a week, not just a couple of days.

Pros:"Rich history, loads of museums around Zocalo, great shopping bargains"
Cons:"Didn't see too much sun in January"
In A Nutshell:"Exciting big city - much better than I had expected"

The cost you list for the Majestic is at least twice the actual cost per person and if you call ahead for a reservation you might pay $80-90 including tax for a double. The location of the balconies make it a good bargain.
