  • Favorite Thing: Only one way down this run. You gotta jump. This is the view from the lip overlooking the Granite Chief face. Granite Chief at 9,050 feet is the highest point in the Squaw Valley ski resort. Truly awesome snow and fantastic bump skiing to be had here!

General Tips: How come our ski instructor just left us here?

  • Favorite Thing: This was one of those moments I was so glad I had my camera with me. These "people" on the lip overlooking the face of the Granite Chief are really little children around 8 to 10 years old. They are poised on top of one of the most challenging runs at Squaw Valley. I watched their ski instructor go first. "Watch me," she yelled, "Just jump off like this!" And off she jumped, leaving her entire class on the lip. Then one by one, each of the kids jumped off and disappeared below the lip

General Tips: Lake Tahoe in Winter
  • Tip Rating:
  • Favorite Thing: Lake Tahoe is a beautiful place for a winter vacation. It usually receives a great deal of snow from December through April and sometimes May due to its location in the Sierras, making it an ideal winter playground.

Fondest Memory: This picture shows Lake Tahoe at a deceptively calm moment in the winter. Just hours later, the area experienced a winter storm warning which dumped a foot of new snow at the ski resorts.

That vegetarian dish looks awesome!!! My sister "jumpingwithnorman" brought me 2x to Taho for cross-country skiing - forgot the lodge but it was huge! Still haven't booked the NM house --- but will check it out, Norman :)

Fabulous mountain photos. I can see why you keep going back there for all seasons. Congratulations on getting that boatload of mutineers safely back to shore!
