Sea Ranch -- This is the life!

When I think of relaxing on the Pacific coast, sitting with a glass of wine on the deck, and whale watching, I think of Sea Ranch on the Sonoma Coast of California.

Hiking, bicycling, golfing - take your pick

Sea Ranch has miles of walking trails, including its famous bluff trail. Along the bluff, you'll be rewarded by sights like this.

Bring or rent bicycles and golf clubs. Bicycling is allowed everywhere but the bluff trail. The Sea Ranch development includes a fabulous 18 hole golf course.

The trails will take you to many secluded coves and fine sand beaches. Be sure to hit the beach during low tide for excellent tide pooling!

Pros and Cons

Pros:Relaxing, peaceful, away from it all, great walking/running trails
Cons:The federal government wants to "thin" forests in the area

I've just met someone who says she always asks very nicely for something that isn't on the menu. She claims that's the best way to test a restaurant. (Seems to have worked the other night when we went out for a meal together.)
