Point Reyes Station Travel Guide: 124 reviews and 308 photos
Point Reyes Station is one of the tiny towns just outside of Point Reyes National Seashore. This page focuses on Point Reyes National Seashore, rather than the town, as do my pages on Olema and Inverness (two other tiny towns just outside the National Seashore).
During the Memorial Day weekend of 2006, we were treated to rare weather conditions that produced crystal clear visibility at Point Reyes. This was the weekend for all the companies promoting tourism to send their photographers out to get pictures, so that they could show the rest of the world what Point Reyes almost never looks like.
I live 30 minutes away from Point Reyes, so it makes it pretty easy for me to head out there on those few absolutely great days each year.
- Pros:Full of wildlife, beautiful coastline, uncrowded, well-preserved by numerous environmental groups
- Cons:Frequent foggy, cold, misty weather (particularly when out of town guests come to visit)
- In a nutshell:One of the most incredibly beautiful spots in the US

I went only once to Point Reyes and was lucky to have thise crystal clear weather. I have to build a page to show you the photos! I did not visit Mt Wittenberg, only the light house
Enjoyed your photos and guided hike, Karen. Good to know that your photos are somewhat misleading of what the area really looks like ;)
Karen, this is a gorgeous coastal National Park! What amazing vistas you were treated to on this one 'special' day! Thanks for the guided hike, it was very enjoyable and informative.
