La Casa Palapa: Perfection

I didn't want to stay in one of the mega hotels in Puerto Vallarta, so I looked for a place I could call my own for 5 days. I hit the jack pot with La Casa Palapa. La Palapa, by the way, is the name of those thatched umbrella stands you'll see on the beach. This house is located on a cliff overlooking the town on one side and the Pacific on the other.

Unique Qualities: La Casa Palapa has three bedrooms, four bathrooms, a kitchen, a pool, and all the other living areas are outside. This has to be the most unique home I have ever rented on a vacation. The weather was perfect and even though it was the middle of winter, we could sit outside and enjoy the sea breeze until late in the evening.

I highly, highly recommend this vacation rental. The location was just north of the town - walkable in fact. Loved it. I want to go back.

San Pancho Beach: Pitch a tent

Stake out your little plot of land and put up your tent on the beach. I don't even think you need to pay a fee. You'll have lots of space. There are not a lot of tents here. Nothing is crowded in San Pancho. Not even the local campground.
